What is eSIM?

eSIM, also known as embedded SIM, is a modern technology that eliminates the need for physical SIM cards. It enables you to store your network service digitally on compatible devices. eSIM offers several advantages, including faster activation, simplified setup processes, and reduced environmental impact compared to traditional plastic SIM cards.

What types of devices use eSIM?

eSIM technology is supported by various devices, including wearables, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. To determine if your specific device is compatible with eSIM, it's advisable to check the manufacturer's website or refer to a list of compatible devices.

Do I need to update my version of iOS to use eSIM on my iPhone?

To utilize eSIM on your iPhone, it is necessary to have iOS 13 or a more recent version installed. However, please note that not all iPhone models support eSIM functionality. It is recommended to visit the Apple website or consult the list of compatible devices to determine if your iPhone model is eSIM-enabled.

How does choosing eSIM help the environment?

Opting for an eSIM can contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions associated with the manufacturing, storage, and transportation of physical plastic SIM cards. By eliminating the need for physical materials, eSIM technology helps to minimize the environmental impact and promote eco-friendliness.

What is dual SIM?

Dual SIM refers to the capability of a device to support the use of two mobile services simultaneously. This can be achieved through a combination of a physical SIM card and an eSIM or multiple eSIM profiles. With dual SIM functionality, it becomes possible to make and receive calls, send texts, and use mobile data with two separate mobile numbers and plans on a single device.

To be noted that the requirements, functionality, and operation of dual SIM may vary depending on the specific device models. It is advisable to consult the device manufacturer for detailed information regarding dual SIM capabilities and specifications.

What’s the difference between dual SIM and eSIM?

The difference between dual SIM and eSIM lies in their functionalities. Dual SIM is a feature that enables a device to support two mobile services simultaneously. It allows you to use two different mobile numbers and plans on the same device.

On the other hand, eSIM is a technology that replaces the need for a physical SIM card. It is an embedded SIM built directly into a compatible device. With eSIM, you can activate and switch between mobile plans without the need for a physical SIM card.

In summary, dual SIM refers to the capability of supporting multiple mobile services, while eSIM specifically refers to the technology that eliminates the need for a physical SIM card.
